Caring for Nature

Having developed an understanding of the natural world and how this impacts on our interaction with it, as individuals we are better placed to understand how to manage and care for our local natural environments. This section expands on some of the themes of conservation that were introduced in the Core. The two areas covered are:

  • Understanding environmental management
    • the importance of healthy environments
    • locally protected areas and national parks
    • contribution and value of Aboriginal peoples’ knowledge and practice
  • Responsible, ethical and sustainable environmental practices
    • leave no trace and minimum impact practices
    • sustainable use of wilderness environments
