In NSW, we are extremely fortunate to have amazing access to outdoor activities and spaces. Even the most urbanised part of our state, such as in the CBD of Sydney, has green spaces and natural waterways that can be accessed easily. There is almost nowhere in NSW where the population cannot access our natural spaces within 30 minutes of their home to engage in outdoor activities.
There are over 225 national parks in NSW, 67 state forests, and approximately 600 nature reserves and conservation areas managed by National Parks. (see National Parks map)
One way to access these beautiful outdoor areas is by engaging in a “Micro- adventure”. A micro- adventure is a term made common by British adventurer Alastair Humphreys. His idea was that anyone could enjoy an adventure outdoors in their own local area, regardless of where they lived.
